The art of color seeing and impressionistic works. Paintings in Pastels, Oils, and watercolors

PERSONAL VISION

I suspect I will want to draw and paint any and everything over time.  I have always responded to color and creating colorful artwork.  I know I have for years admired and enjoyed impressionistic artwork.  I have studied some of the history of impressionism as a movement and I have enjoyed ideas associated with this art movement.

I know I presently like working on portrait's as it is a challenge and an excitement in seeing.  But landscapes are just as challenging as are still life's.   I like the brighter colors of painting and I know for sure discovering Color Seeing is the direction I want to go with my art.  Presently I have the passion for the color and the light but not the discipline - which will take a lifetime to develop.

Eckhart Tolle in his book The Power Of Now wrote about how our mind provides a continuous stream of thought - evaluating, criticizing, commenting, etc.  I know in many of the cognitive oriented theories of psychology they point our the same thing.  I know Tolle says nothing new to me when he wrote, "So you see and judge the present through the eyes of the past and get a totally distorted view of it (pg 18)".  Painting to me is the discipline of suspending all judgment of the past and all prejudice of the mind.  It is focusing all of ones energy into a complete present focus - into the now of the moment - and seeing the objects we paint in this moment of time with its true reflection of color from the light source.  Painting for me many times becomes a meditation.  For me it is being at one with God.

 LIFE LONG LEARNING

I have been learning drawing skills and painting now for about 20 years.  I am always amazed at what I learn each day.   The more involved I am daily with drawing - the more I learn - so that is the goal and vision for me here.  I will never arrive - I will always be learning and growing with my art process.   In many ways each piece will be a study of seeing.  My life philosophy has been life is about learning so my personal philosophy and my art fit together.
